We offer a variety of hands-on experiences with the goal to take-away outdoors skills they can use on their own, building comfort and confidence.

What We’ll Cover:

  • Each one includes an educational aspect that brings in an appreciation to nature as well as a unique aspect to fishing

  • You can attend one session to all four

  • All sessions include at least 45min of open fishing

  • All equipment and tackle is provided

How This Workshop Is Scheduled

This workshop is offered on an on-call basis only.

The deer is ethically harvested the same day as the class, making advance scheduling impossible. Hunting takes place Friday morning, and if a deer is harvested, participants on the waitlist will be notified that same day for a Friday afternoon workshop.

Fire Crafting Basics: Outdoor Fire Skills 101 - Coming Soon!

Build confidence outdoors while learning one of the most important skills - how to manage a safe campfire.

Kids will learn step by step fire safety, how to prep fuel properly, and multiple ways to start a fire using age-appropriate tools and close instructor supervision. This is a hands-on class designed to teach practical skills, good judgment and respect for fire.

What We’ll Cover:

  • Fire Safety First: site selection, safe zones, fire rules, and how to extinguish correctly.

  • Types of fires to build: when to use each (heat, cooking, visibility , quick-start)

  • Different ways to start a fire: match and striker, spark-based methods, and troubleshooting

  • Preparing your wood: tinder, kindling, fuel wood, and how to keep materials dry

  • Tool basics: how to safely use a hatchet for simple wood processing (instruction + controlled practice)

This is perfect for kids who love camping, scouting-style skills, and outdoor adventure. No prior experience required.

From Field to Freezer: Deer Processing Workshop

Harvesting a deer is only part of the journey. Knowing how to properly clean and process your harvest is an essential skill every hunter should understand.

This hands-on educational workshop teaches participants how to safely and ethically clean, gut, and prepare your wild game for processing or freezing. Led by a lifelong hunter with real-world experience, this class focuses on practical skills, confidence, and responsible use of wild game.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to properly field dress wild game

  • External anatomy and internal organ identification

  • Step-by-step gutting and breakdown techniques

  • Sanitation, safety, and best practices

  • How to prepare your deer for the butcher or freezer

  • Common mistakes to avoid

This workshop series blends education, nature appreciation and hands-on fishing.

These are perfect for kids and families new to fishing, homeschool groups, camps or anyone who is looking for a hands-on introduction into fishing.

Session 2 - Nature Journaling & Fishing with Artificial Bait & Lures

How to enjoy nature and capture your surroundings. Explore how fish use senses (sight, smell, vibration) to find food. How different colored tackle look in various water conditions. We’ll also go through different lures and artificial bait options, how to use them, and which species they target. We’ll cover plastics, hard baits, and PowerBait. This session will include a small journal to take home!

Session 1 - Fish Biology, Identification & Fishing Basics

Learn about the fish life stages and why life cycles matter for conservation and fishing limits along with what gear you need, how to tie knots, cast, set the hook, and fish from shore.

Session 3 - Ecosystems, Conservation and Fishing with Live Bait

Learn about what fish eat in the wild and where they find it. What some of the most popular live bait used are and we’ll even have some on hand to ourselves.

    We’ll wrap up the day by grilling some of work!

Session 4: Fish Anatomy, Cleaning & Preparing your Catch

We’ll review external anatomy and some of the internal organs. Learn what to do after you’ve caught a keeper. We’ll demonstrate how to fillet and gut a fish, plus simple ways to prepare it at home.
